The Marsannay L'Ancestrale 2023 by Sylvain Pataille, a Pinot Noir from the Côte de Nuits, born on gravelly and chalky soils. Aged 24 months in barrels, it reveals notes of cherries and gentle spices. Fresh, silky and mineral, it pairs with red meats or aged cheeses from 2026.
A family estate rooted in the slopes of Marsannay, where respect for the terroir has guided every gesture for three generations.
- Terroir: The historic plots of Clos du Roy, En Clémengeot and Les Ouzeloy, on chalky and gravelly soils, shape wines of vibrant minerality.
- Winemaking: A precise approach – whole clusters, aging on fine lees – to reveal the natural elegance of Pinot Noir.
- To the eye: Deep ruby robe with garnet highlights, of a silky and luminous texture.
- On the nose: Amarena cherries and macerated red fruits intertwine with notes of gentle spices, liquorice and a saline touch evoking the layered scree of the terroir.
- On the palate: A lively and precise attack, carried by velvety tannins and a mineral tension. The finish, long and saline, leaves an impression of chalky purity.
A vintage marked by balanced ripeness, where freshness and concentration respond to each other in harmony.
- Aging potential: To be kept until 2032 under optimal conditions (stable temperature, controlled humidity).
