...Arnaud Ente quickly made a name for himself by producing wines of a refined style, thanks to rare rigour and precision, with constant attention paid to pruning and harvesting, in order to obtain naturally concentrated and, above all, well-balanced grapes. The quest of the Arnaud Ente estate is focused on the pursuit of balance, precision and the aesthetic of its wines. This rising star of Burgundy was even named man of the year 2012 by the renowned Bettane et Desseauve Guide. Since then, his reputation has only continued to grow and his name is spoken of among the greatest connoisseurs. The confidential production of his wines makes him one of the most sought-after winemakers in Burgundy, and Arnaud Ente openly pursues purity and tension in his wines. And one must admit that the wines, mainly produced from regional plots (Aligoté and Chardonnay) and village-level wines (Meursault, Clos des Ambres and Sève du Clos), are of an altogether exceptional density and precision. From vines that are not in principle among the finest climates, Arnaud Ente manages to give, year after year, a masterclass in style to true lovers of great white Burgundies.The simple Meursault village wines often surpass many Grands Crus in the beauty of their bouquet and the density of their substance. The simple Bourgogne Aligoté reveals itself on a very fine, very pure, fresh and lively nose. The quality level of this wine, derived from old vines on Meursault on a very well-draining gravel terroir and partially aged in demi-muids, is truly exciting. The Bourgogne Blanc (old vines from Meursault and young vines from Puligny) is characterised by freshness, with an already refined yet discreet nose. It has a beautiful, precise and incisive attack, and a very slender style, with a very pure and tracing finish. The Meursault Clos des Ambres offers a magnificent palate with delicate notes of candied citrus, of great finesse of expression. On the palate, one feels a superb vibration of fruit and great freshness with, once again, a luminous, crystal-clear finish with perfectly integrated oak. This is a wine created for gastronomy, which asserts itself not through aromatic power but through its mouthfeel. On the red Burgundy side, the Volnay Premier Cru Santenots du Milieu is superb, with a very fine nose, fruity, floral and spiced. With relief on the palate provided by a partial whole-cluster harvest, this is a very beautiful wine with perfectly integrated oak, unfolding its silky substance over a very long finish. The discerning enthusiast would do well to discover the wines of the Arnaud Ente estate, whose distribution remains very limited.
