Biodynamic expertise at the heart of the Vallée de la Marne
Discover Champagne Lointier, an authentic gem nestled in the heart of the Vallée de la Marne. Led by a passionate young couple, Hélène and Jean-Baptiste Lointier, this artisanal estate combines viticultural traditions with natural innovation. Since 2016, the Lointiers have been crafting Champagnes of distinctive character, produced in limited quantities and sourced from biodynamic farming that respects the environment. With only 3,000 to 5,000 bottles produced per year, each cuvée reflects a unique terroir and meticulous craftsmanship.
Jean-Baptiste Lointier's journey is a true ode to perseverance and passion. As early as 2007, he joined the family estate to support his father with an innovative vision: integrating biodynamic practices. However, generational differences held back his ambitions, leading him to leave the estate shortly thereafter.
In 2016, Jean-Baptiste seized the opportunity to settle on 3.5 hectares in the Vallée de la Marne, in Brasles. He transformed this plot into a sanctuary of sustainable and artisanal viticulture. With the help of his wife Hélène, who also has a passion for bees, the couple gave birth to a range of Champagnes inspired by nature. Their cellar, modest but functional, became the place where their vision took shape: to produce expressive Champagnes, free of artifice, and full of emotion.
Located in the western part of the Vallée de la Marne, the estate cultivates three hectares of vines planted primarily with Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. These grape varieties, emblematic of the region, thrive on clay-limestone, sandy, and mineral-rich soils.
The plots, spread across gentle slopes that sometimes descend toward the Marne, benefit from optimal sunlight and an ideal microclimate for perfect grape ripeness. Committed to biodiversity, Hélène and Jean-Baptiste refuse to use chemical products. No herbicides or insecticides are used, and the organic certification, initiated in 2019, reflects this deep commitment to nature.
Respect for the terroir is an absolute priority: each plot is worked individually to reveal its full potential. This plot-by-plot approach results in distinct cuvées, each expressing the typicity of its soil and exposure.
Jean-Baptiste Lointier stands out for his artisanal winemaking methods that respect the grape. Once harvested at optimal ripeness, the grapes undergo a gentle transformation, without filtration or fining. Malolactic fermentation is deliberately avoided to preserve the freshness and vivacity of the wines.
The winemaking process relies on a combination of modern and traditional techniques:
Micro-oxygenation: Use of small oak barrels and amphorae (Quevris) for controlled oxygenation, promoting aromatic expression. Some barrels are even crafted from wood sourced from the family forest.
Minimal dosage: The cuvées are Extra Brut or Brut Nature, with dosages ranging from 1.5 to 3 g/L, guaranteeing purity and aromatic transparency.
Minimal intervention: Sulfur use reduced to the strict minimum to preserve the integrity of aromas and textures.
Thanks to these non-interventionist methods, every bottle reflects the richness of its terroir and the artisanal philosophy of the estate.
Cuvée Causica
This 100% Pinot Meunier cuvée is a true homage to nature. Dosed at 1.5 g/L, it is aged half in barrels and half in amphorae, offering a generous and fruity Champagne with a subtle woody touch. It reveals notes of fresh red fruits and a silky texture, without any heaviness.
Cuvée Millefera
A blend of 85% Pinot Noir and 15% Pinot Meunier, the Millefera cuvée embodies elegance and finesse. With a minimal dosage of 1.5 g/L, it captivates with its aromas of ripe red fruits, fleshy cherry, and a floral hint. Aging in barrels adds further complexity, with a subtle woody note in the background.
Bees at the Heart of the Estate
Each cuvée bears a name inspired by bees, as a tribute to Jean-Baptiste and Hélène's passion for beekeeping. The label, adorned with a honeybee, symbolizes their commitment to a healthy vineyard that respects ecosystems.
