The Grands Échezeaux Grand Cru 2021 from Joseph Drouhin, sourced from the clay-limestone slopes of the Côte de Nuits, combines Pinot Noir with ageing in barrels (30% new). Aromas of cherry and cocoa, silky palate and taut freshness. Ideal with game or aged cheese, it can be cellared for 15 to 20 years.
A family estate founded in 1880, Domaine Joseph Drouhin embodies Burgundian excellence through four generations of expertise.
- Terroir : Its vines are rooted in the Grands-Échézeaux, on the clay-limestone soils of the Côte de Nuits, where the Bajocian limestone imparts minerality and tension.
- Vinification : Respect for indigenous yeasts, ageing in French oak barrels (30% new) and manual harvesting to preserve the purity of the Pinot Noir.
To the eye: Deep garnet robe with ruby highlights, of a silky and luminous texture.
On the nose: Aromas of fresh black cherry and roasted cocoa bean, followed by deeper notes of cedar and truffle, lifted by a saline and chalky touch.
On the palate: Velvety attack, precise and well-integrated tannins, lively acidity carrying a chalky minerality, long and elegant finish with accents of liquorice and sweet spices.
Serve between 16 and 18 °C in a Burgundy glass to release its aromas.
A vintage marked by contrasting climatic conditions, yielding wines of remarkable freshness and elegance.
- Ageing potential : To be cellared for 15 to 20 years in a cool, humid cellar, with an evolution potential of up to 30 years.
