Born on the clay-limestone hillsides of Flagey-Échezeaux, the Grands-Échezeaux Grand Cru 1981 from Domaine François Lamarche is a Pinot Noir aged in oak barrels. Aromas of undergrowth and truffle, silky and mineral texture. Perfect for cellaring through 2030, it pairs with game and aged cheeses.
A family estate rooted in Vosne-Romanée since 1797, where the Burgundian heritage is passed down with exacting standards.
- Terroir: Clay-limestone soils of Grands-Echezeaux, in the Côte de Nuits – a cru where minerality engages in dialogue with the power of Pinot Noir.
- Vinification: Aged in oak barrels, without fining or filtration, to preserve the purity of the fruit and the complexity of the terroir.
Tasting notes for Domaine François Lamarche Grands Echezeaux 1981
To the eye: Garnet robe with tawny highlights, of a silky density where light refracts into deep nuances.
On the nose: Aromas of candied black cherry, damp undergrowth, autumn truffle and aged cedar, lifted by a saline note and a hint of blonde tobacco.
On the palate: Velvety texture, carried by a lively acidity and a chalky minerality, stretching into a long, taut finish where gentle spices and ripe fruits intertwine.
Serve at 16-18°C in a Burgundy glass to release its complex aromas.
