The Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Mouches 2007 white by Joseph Drouhin, a Burgundy Chardonnay, reveals floral aromas (lilac, rose) and toasted hazelnut. Aged in barrels (20% new oak), its lively and mineral palate captivates with its silky texture. Perfect with fish or poultry, it can still age for 5 to 6 years.
A family house founded in 1880, Joseph Drouhin embodies Burgundian excellence – a four-generation heritage deeply rooted in respect for the terroir.
- Terroir: The vines of Clos des Mouches, in Beaune, flourish on clay-limestone soils, where chalk and marls lend the Chardonnays a chalky minerality and an elegant tension.
- Vinification: Aging in barrels, with a controlled proportion of new oak, to preserve the purity of the fruit while sculpting a silky texture and aromatic complexity.
In the glass: Pale yellow robe with golden reflections, of crystalline clarity and an unctuous texture.
On the nose: First, fresh notes of white lilac and rose, then aromas of ripe pear and sweet apple, before nuances of toasted hazelnut, honey, and a saline, mineral touch emerge.
On the palate: A lively and precise attack, carried by a taut acidity that balances a rich and silky body – a long finish, where flashes of citron and a chalky minerality intertwine.
Serve at 14 °C in a Burgundy glass to reveal its full complexity.
A vintage marked by early maturity and a lovely freshness, in which the Chardonnays from Beaune express a fruity elegance and a well-balanced structure.
- Aging potential: Drink until 2023, store in cool and stable conditions, away from light.
