This Chambolle-Musigny 1970 from Joseph Drouhin, born on the limestone slopes of Burgundy, is a Pinot Noir aged in oak barrels. Notes of violet, cherry and undergrowth, with discreet minerality. Silky palate, elegant tannins and lively acidity. Perfect with rich dishes, it can continue to evolve in the cellar.
A family house founded in 1880, Joseph Drouhin embodies Burgundian excellence through four generations of expertise.
- Terroir: The vines of Chambolle-Musigny, rooted in Jurassic limestone soils of the Côte de Nuits, lend the Pinot Noir a chalky minerality and an airy elegance.
- Vinification: Hand-harvested grapes, fermentation with indigenous yeasts and ageing in oak barrels (20-25% new) for a precise and silky expression of the variety.
To the eye: Garnet red robe with tawny highlights, of a velvety texture and a density softened by time.
On the nose: Aromas of wilted violet, candied black cherry, damp undergrowth and a hint of black truffle, lifted by a subtle chalky salinity.
On the palate: Silky attack, lively and taut acidity, tannins woven into a mineral framework, long finish on notes of candied fruit and gentle spices.
Serve at 16°C in a Burgundy glass to unlock its full complexity.
A vintage marked by balanced ripeness, where cool nights preserved the tension of the Pinot Noir.
- Ageing potential: Drink now or cellar until 2025 in a temperature-stable (12-14°C) and humidity-controlled environment.
