The Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Mouches 2023 Blanc by Joseph Drouhin, from clay-limestone soils, reveals a Chardonnay aged in barrels (20–25% new). Floral and fruity nose – lilac, hazelnut – a taut, mineral and persistent palate. Perfect with fish and seafood, to be cellared for 8 to 15 years.
A family estate since 1880, rooted at the heart of Burgundy, Domaine Joseph Drouhin embodies the alliance between tradition and precision.
- Terroir: the vines of Clos des Mouches, located on the hillsides of Beaune, flourish on clay-limestone soils, blending rock and marl for a mineral and elegant expression.
- Winemaking: ageing in barrels, with a measured proportion of new wood, preserves the purity of the Chardonnay while adding a touch of silky complexity.
To the eye: a pale yellow robe with golden highlights, of crystalline clarity and an unctuous texture.
On the nose: first, floral notes of white lilac and rose, followed by aromas of toasted hazelnut and fresh almond, then a saline touch and a hint of citron for a mineral depth.
On the palate: a lively and precise attack, supported by a rich and chalky texture, where flavours of white pineapple and apple intertwine, before a long and taut finish, carried by a persistent minerality.
Serve at 14 °C in a Burgundy glass to reveal all its finesse.
A vintage marked by a balanced ripeness, where freshness and concentration complement each other harmoniously.
- Ageing potential: to be cellared for up to 15 years under optimal conditions (stable temperature, away from light).
