Tasting notes for Château Léoville Las Cases 1989
To the eye – A deep ruby robe with blue-black highlights, dense and luminous, heralding a wine that is both generous and refined.
On the nose – First lively and fruity (blackcurrant, wild blackberry), then deeper with notes of cedar, blonde tobacco and graphite, before a saline touch and a hint of black truffle.
On the palate – A silky and velvety texture, carried by a precise acidity and a chalky minerality, with supple tannins and a long finish, where dark chocolate, mocha and a subtle undergrowth bitterness intertwine.
Serve between 16 and 18°C in a Bordeaux glass to release its full complexity.
