The Château Mouton Rothschild 1988, Premier Cru Classé from Pauillac, flourishes on the gravels of the Médoc. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (75%) aged in new oak barrels, it reveals notes of tobacco and cocoa. On the palate, its silky tannins and freshness balance a long finish. Perfect with red meats, this wine for aging will improve over 15 to 20 years.
A symbol of excellence in Pauillac, this family estate has embodied the union of viticultural tradition and artistic boldness across generations.
- Terroir: Deep gravels and clay-limestone soils of the Médoc, shaping wines of mineral structure and rare elegance.
- Vinification: A meticulous aging in new French oak barrels, for cuvées where power and precision are balanced with harmony.
Tasting notes for Château Mouton Rothschild 1988
To the eye: A garnet-red robe with copper reflections, dense and luminous, revealing a silky substance and a chalky depth.
On the nose: Aromas of lily and lilac blossom first, followed by notes of blond tobacco, toasted vanilla, licorice, and cocoa, all underscored by a saline mineral touch.
On the palate: A full and velvety texture, driven by a lively acidity and mineral tension, for a long, balanced, and persistently elegant finish.
Serve at 16-18°C in a Bordeaux glass to release its full complexity.
