The Château Mouton Rothschild 2002, a jewel of Pauillac, comes from deep gravels. A blend (77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot), aged 18 months in new barrels. Nose of dark fruits, structured palate, precise tannins and an elegant finish. Ideal with lamb or cheeses, it ages beautifully.
Nestled in the heart of Pauillac, this legendary estate embodies Bordeaux excellence for generations, combining family tradition and artistic boldness.
- Terroir : Deep gravels of the Médoc, where the stony, well-drained soils sculpt wines of an unrivalled structure, marked by minerality and power.
- Vinification : A meticulous blend of noble grape varieties, aged 18 months in new French oak barrels for a harmony between fruit and wood, without ever sacrificing elegance.
Tasting notes for Château Mouton Rothschild 2002
On the eye – A deep ruby red robe, of crystalline brilliance, revealing a silky texture and a promising density.
On the nose – First an animal, almost wild touch that fades before aromas of juicy blackberry and ripe blackcurrant, before giving way to woody, vanilla notes and a subtle chalky minerality.
On the palate – The attack is dense, almost fleshy, carried by firm but remarkably fine tannins; the lively acidity and discreet salinity balance the richness of the fruit, while the long, taut finish leaves an elegant and persistent impression.
Serve between 16 and 18 °C, in a Bordeaux glass to release its full complexity.
2002 Vintage
A vintage marked by a warmer and drier climate than average, offering wines of early maturity but with a beautiful tension, where the fruit combines with a refined tannic structure.
- Aging potential : To be cellared for another 10 to 20 years in a cool cellar (12–14 °C) and away from light, to allow time to reveal its full depth.
