The Thomas Morey Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Embrazées 2022 reveals a gravelly terroir with a south-east exposure. This Chardonnay, with notes of white flowers and fresh fruit, is aged on fine lees. On the palate, precise and mineral, it pairs well with shellfish or poultry through to 2042.
Heir to a winemaking lineage in the Côte de Beaune, Domaine Thomas Morey cultivates a deep bond with its terroirs, where each plot tells a family story.
- Terroir: The vines, planted in 1961 on the Embrazées hillside, draw their character from a red gravelly soil at 230 metres above sea level – a cradle of minerality for Chardonnay.
- Winemaking: Spontaneous fermentation and extended aging on fine lees, with a touch of new oak barrels, for precise, taut wines that are true to their origin.
In the eye: Golden yellow robe with green highlights, of silky clarity and luminous brilliance.
On the nose: Aromas of white flowers (hawthorn, acacia) unfold into white-fleshed fruits (Williams pear, vineyard peach), lifted by a saline touch and a chalky minerality.
On the palate: Ample and vibrant texture, carried by a lively acidity and elegant tension, where ripe fruits, toasted notes and a long finish mingle, marked by a persistent salinity.
Serve between 8 and 10 °C in a Burgundy glass to reveal its complexity.
A classic vintage, where balance and energy combine to exalt the purity of the terroir.
- Aging potential: To be kept until 2042 in a cool cellar (12-14 °C), away from light.
