The Château des Tours Vacqueyras 2016, born on the stony hillsides of Vacqueyras, blends Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre. This wine, aged in large casks, captivates with its notes of blackberry, thyme and spices. Its full yet taut palate reveals a mineral touch. Perfect until 2035 with a duck breast.
A family estate rooted in Sarrians, at the heart of the southern Rhône Valley, where Emmanuel Reynaud perpetuates a viticultural heritage of rigor and discretion.
- Terroir: Clay-limestone soils and rounded pebbles from the Vacqueyras and Côtes-du-Rhône appellations, bathed in a Mediterranean climate tempered by the mistral.
- Winemaking: Natural method – indigenous yeasts, extended aging in old large casks, without artifice – for wines of mineral purity and rare tension.
Tasting notes for Château des Tours Vacqueyras 2016
In the glass: Deep garnet robe with tawny highlights, of a silky density where light dances on slow and generous legs.
On the nose: Freshness of morello cherry and wild blackberry, then deeper notes of liquorice and cedar, before a saline touch evokes the crushed stones of the Vacqueyras hillsides.
On the palate: A velvety yet taut texture, where lively acidity and chalky minerality support a long spiced finish, marked by tannins of discreet elegance.
Serve at 16°C in a Burgundy-style red wine glass to release its full complexity.
Vintage 2016
A sunny yet balanced vintage, where the freshness preserved by a mild summer allowed the grapes to reach optimal ripeness without excess.
- Aging potential: 15 years and more, to be stored in a cool cellar (12–14°C) away from light.
