The Duroché Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Lavaut Saint-Jacques 2023, born on the limestone slopes of Gevrey, expresses an old-vine Pinot Noir (1923). Cherry, spice and chalky minerality after 15 months in barrel (15% new). Perfect after 5–10 years with meat dishes or aged cheeses.
Five generations of family expertise rooted in the heart of Gevrey-Chambertin, where Pinot Noir expresses itself with rare precision.
- Terroir: Limestone soils of the Côte de Nuits, plots classified as Premiers Crus, cool climate and east-facing exposure for slow ripening and pronounced minerality.
- Vinification: Hand harvesting, partial destemming, fermentation with indigenous yeasts and ageing in barrels (15% new oak) to preserve the purity of the fruit and the tension of the terroir.
Tasting notes for Duroché Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Lavaut Saint-Jacques 2023
To the eye: Deep garnet robe with ruby highlights, of silky density and crystalline brilliance that heralds a wine both generous and refined.
On the nose: Freshness of morello cherry and blackcurrant, evolving towards deeper notes of blood orange zest, violet and liquorice, lifted by a saline touch and a hint of damp undergrowth.
On the palate: A lively and precise attack, carried by fine and tightly knit tannins, a taut acidity and a chalky minerality that stretches into a long and elegant finish, where gentle spices and ripe dark fruits intertwine.
Serve between 14 and 16 °C in a Burgundy glass to reveal its full complexity.
