The history of Domaine Duroché goes back several generations, with the first family bottling dating back to 1933. However, it was the arrival of Pierre Duroché at the helm in 2005 that marked a major turning point for the estate. His father, Gilles Duroché, used to sell a large part of the production to the wine trade. When Pierre took over, he decided to bottle the entire production and propel the estate towards excellence. With a modern vision and a deep respect for tradition, he has undertaken rigorous work in the vineyard and cellar to bring out the full expression of the terroirs.
Pierre has gradually reduced human intervention, favouring natural viticultural practices and meticulous ageing. Thanks to a minimalist approach in the cellar, fermentations using indigenous yeasts and the careful use of new wood, he has been able to refine the style of the estate's wines. Today, his cuvées stand out for their precision, energy and exceptional aromatic purity, making Domaine Duroché one of the key references in Gevrey-Chambertin.
Covering 8.5 hectares, the Domaine Duroché vineyards are mainly located in Gevrey-Chambertin, one of Burgundy's most prestigious terroirs. The estate owns vines in several appellations, including Grands Crus (Chambertin Clos de Bèze, Charmes-Chambertin, Latricières-Chambertin, Griotte-Chambertin) and Premiers Crus (Lavaut Saint-Jacques, Estournelles Saint-Jacques, Les Cazetiers, Les Champeaux).
The vines are worked in an ultra-reasoned way, without the use of insecticides or herbicides. The use of sulphur and copper is limited, and natural methods such as grassing are favoured. The estate also applies massal selection practices to preserve the genetic diversity of the old vines and produce concentrated, expressive grapes.
In the Domaine Duroché cellar, the vinification process is designed to best express the uniqueness of each terroir. The grapes are harvested by hand, then carefully sorted to ensure that only the highest-quality berries are kept. Fermentation is carried out using indigenous yeasts, and extractions are moderate to favour finesse.
The wines are matured in oak barrels, with 10-20% new wood, to preserve the aromatic purity of the cuvées. The wines are neither fined nor filtered before bottling, guaranteeing maximum complexity and authenticity.
