This Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Fontenys 2022 from Domaine Joseph Roty, born from Pinot Noir on limestone terroir, captivates with its notes of blackcurrant, violet and gentle spices. Its silky texture and mineral balance make it a wine for ageing, ideal with roast lamb through to 2032.
Heir to a lineage of winemakers spanning eleven generations, Domaine Joseph Roty patiently cultivates the soul of Gevrey-Chambertin, where each plot tells the story of an exceptional terroir.
- Terroir : Clay-limestone soils of the Côte de Nuits, where old vines draw their mineral character and depth from preserved plots.
- Vinification : Aged in new oak barrels, with respect for natural cycles and fermentation in concrete vats to preserve the purity of the Pinot Noir.
To the eye: Deep ruby robe with garnet highlights, with a silky texture and chalky density that heralds its structure.
On the nose: Freshness of morello cherry and blackcurrant, evolving towards notes of violet and liquorice, lifted by a saline touch and a stony minerality.
On the palate: A precise and taut attack, where lively acidity blends with powdery tannins for an elegant texture, carried by a saline length and a persistent finish.
Serve at 14-16°C in a Burgundy glass to release its aromas.
A vintage defined by balance, where the ripeness of the fruit meets a mineral freshness, offering a Gevrey-Chambertin that is both generous and structured.
- Ageing potential : To be kept until 2039 in a cool (12-14°C) and humid cellar, away from light.
