Pétrus 2012, born on the blue clay of Pomerol, reveals a Merlot of rare density. Aged in new barrels, it offers aromas of blackcurrant and truffle, a velvety palate and a vibrant minerality. To be savoured over the next 25 to 35 years, it pairs beautifully with a hare stew or a shoulder of lamb.
Nestled in the heart of Pomerol, this iconic estate embodies the excellence of a unique terroir, shaped by history and the passion of a family.
- Terroir: Iron-rich blue clay, the signature of Pomerol, conferring an unrivalled mineral density and depth to the wines.
- Vinification: Berry-by-berry manual harvest, ageing in oak barrels for a pure expression and a silky texture.
Tasting notes for Château Pétrus Pétrus 2012
To the eye – A deep purple robe, of an almost ink-like density, revealing a generous matter and a crystalline brilliance.
On the nose – First, aromas of ripe blackcurrant and wild blackberry, followed by a touch of sweet liquorice, then black truffle and a subtle saline note, like an echo of the terroir.
On the palate – A velvety, almost unctuous texture, carried by a lively acidity and a chalky minerality, with a long and elegant finish, marked by tannins of remarkable finesse.
Serve at 16°C in a Bordeaux glass to release its full complexity.
