The Pétrus 2019 from Pomerol, grown on blue clay, blends Merlot (99%) and Cabernet Franc. This wine, aged 20 months in barrels, reveals notes of dark fruits and spices, a velvety texture and a mineral freshness. Perfect after 10 years of cellaring, it pairs beautifully with lamb or porcini mushrooms.
Nestled in the heart of Pomerol, Pétrus embodies the excellence of a unique terroir and a viticultural heritage passed down with rigour.
- Terroir: A rare and deep blue clay soil on a Pomerol hillside, shaping wines of incomparable density and minerality.
- Vinification: A meticulous plot-by-plot selection and ageing in oak barrels, where precision takes precedence over intervention, to reveal the purity of the fruit.
Tasting notes for Pétrus 2019
In the glass: A deep purple robe of silky density, where light reflects in deep, velvety hues.
On the nose: First aromas of ripe black cherry and wild blackberry, followed by hints of liquorice and roasted cocoa, before a subtle chalky note underlines the minerality of the terroir.
On the palate: A luscious, almost fleshy texture, carried by a lively acidity and a mineral tension that guides the wine toward a finish of saline, persistent length.
Serve at 16°C in a Bordeaux glass to fully release its aromas.
