The Griotte-Chambertin Grand Cru 2012 from Domaine Ponsot embodies the chalky terroir of the Côte de Nuits. This Pinot Noir, aged two years in barrels, reveals aromas of cherry and cacao, with a structured, mineral palate. Ideal until 2028, paired with red meats or game.
Nestled in the heart of Morey-Saint-Denis since 1872, this family estate embodies the exacting standards of the Grands Crus of the Côte de Nuits, where five generations have crafted wines of rare precision.
- Terroir: Clay-limestone soils of the Burgundian hillsides, cradle of the most prestigious appellations, where Pinot Noir reveals its minerality and elegance.
- Winemaking: Traditional method, aged in oak barrels (no new wood) to preserve the purity of the fruit and the tension of the terroir.
Tasting notes for Domaine Ponsot Griotte-Chambertin Grand Cru 2012
To the eye – Deep garnet robe with ruby highlights, of a silky density and crystalline brilliance that heralds its concentration.
On the nose – Aromas of ripe morello cherry and prune, lifted by notes of roasted cacao, a hint of damp undergrowth and a saline edge evoking the chalky soils of Gevrey-Chambertin.
On the palate – Velvety texture and supple tannins, carried by a lively acidity and chalky minerality; the finish, long and taut, leaves lingering nuances of liquorice and gentle spices.
Serve at 16–18°C in a Burgundy glass to release its complex aromas.
