Born in Pauillac, the Carruades de Lafite 2000 (second wine of Château Lafite Rothschild) blends Cabernet Sauvignon (51.4%) and Merlot (42.3%). Aged in barrels, it reveals aromas of blackberry and spices, with a silky palate and a mineral finish. Ideal with game or aged cheese.
Château Lafite Rothschild
Nestled in the heart of Pauillac, this legendary estate has embodied Bordeaux excellence since the 17th century, under the stewardship of the Rothschild family since 1868.
- Terroir : Deep gravels and gravelly soils of the Left Bank, lending the wines a chalky minerality and a structured elegance.
- Vinification : Precise blending, ageing in oak barrels for a harmony between power and finesse, without ever sacrificing the purity of the fruit.
Tasting notes for Château Lafite Rothschild Carruades de Lafite 2000
To the eye – A deep garnet robe with tiled highlights, of a silky density, already betraying the maturity and complexity of time.
On the nose – First, aromas of wild blackberry and candied blackcurrant, followed by hints of sweet liquorice, blonde tobacco and a touch of graphite, all lifted by a subtle mineral salinity.
On the palate – A velvety, almost fleshy texture, where fine and taut tannins intertwine with a lively acidity and a long finish, marked by notes of cocoa and gentle spices.
Serve between 16 and 18°C in a Bordeaux glass to fully release its aromatic palette.
Vintage 2000
A sun-drenched vintage, where warmth and freshness balanced each other to yield grapes of perfect ripeness, combining concentration and freshness.
- Ageing potential : Drink until 2030, store in a cool cellar (12–14°C), away from light, bottle lying on its side.
