A legendary estate, anchored in the gravel soils of Pauillac since 1868, where the Rothschild heritage blends with the demands of an exceptional terroir.
- Terroir : Deep gravel over a limestone subsoil, typical of the Pauillac appellation, conferring a distinctive minerality and an elegant structure to the wines.
- Vinification : Manual harvesting, parcel-by-parcel fermentation and aging in new oak barrels for a pure and precise expression of the grape variety.
Tasting notes for Château Lafite Rothschild 1974
To the eye – A garnet red robe with tawny highlights, of a silky density and a subtle brilliance, betraying age with elegance.
On the nose – First, notes of candied blackcurrant and wild blackberry, followed by a touch of cedar and blonde tobacco, before a saline hint comes to underline the persistent freshness of the vintage.
On the palate – A velvety texture, carried by a lively acidity and a chalky minerality, where aromas of graphite, liquorice and dark fruits unfold, leading to a long and taut finish.
Serve at 16-18°C in a Bordeaux glass to release its full complexity.

A vintage marked by an unusual freshness, where the slow ripening of the grapes preserved a remarkable tension and a rare elegance.
