- Terroir : From the clay-limestone and gravelly hillsides of the Sauternes Appellation, bathed by the morning mists of the Garonne, which promote the development of noble rot.
- Vinification : A rigorous parcel selection and patient aging in French oak barrels, for wines of rare complexity and longevity.
Tasting notes for Château d'Yquem Yquem 1990
To the eye – A golden robe with amber reflections, dense and luminous, like liquid honey captured in the glass.
On the nose – First, fresh aromas of candied citrus and acacia blossoms, then deeper notes of roasted figs, salted butter caramel and vanilla, lifted by a mineral hint of flint.
On the palate – A silky and unctuous texture, carried by a lively acidity that balances the sweetness, while nuances of exotic fruits and gentle spices extend into a saline and remarkably long finish.
Serve at 10–12°C in a Bordeaux-style white wine glass to reveal its full complexity.

A sunny and generous vintage, where the ripeness of the grapes allowed for a rare concentration and harmony to be achieved.
- Aging potential : To be cellared until 2050 and beyond, in a cellar at a stable temperature (12–14°C) and away from light.
