The Château d'Yquem 2003, Premier Cru Supérieur of Sauternes, is a sweet wine born on gravelly soils. Made from Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc, it offers notes of candied fruits and honey, carried by a lively acidity. Its silky palate makes it a rare wine. To be enjoyed through 2060.
Château d'Yquem
A jewel of Sauternes, this estate has embodied the excellence of sweet wines since the 16th century, combining family tradition and an exceptional terroir.
- Terroir: Gravelly and clay-limestone soils of the Sauternes appellation, bathed by the Ciron and the Garonne, creating an ideal microclimate for noble rot.
- Vinification: Manual harvesting in successive tries, aging in French oak barrels for unmatched aromatic complexity.
Tasting notes for Château d'Yquem Yquem 2003
To the eye – A deep golden robe, almost amber, with a silky density that heralds an unctuous texture.
On the nose – First, fresh notes of candied apricot and ripe mango, then deeper aromas of acacia honey, vanilla and caramel, lifted by a spiced touch of ginger and saffron.
On the palate – A rich and velvety attack, carried by a lively acidity that brings mineral tension, while the finish, of remarkable length, reveals nuances of exotic fruits and dried flowers.
Serve between 12 and 14°C in a Bordeaux-style white wine glass to enhance its aromas.
Vintage 2003
A sun-drenched vintage, marked by an early heatwave, offering exceptional concentration and early ripeness of the grapes.
- Aging potential: To be cellared until 2060 under optimal conditions (stable temperature, controlled humidity and absence of light).
