The Jean Louis Chave Hermitage 2004, a red Hermitage wine made from Syrah, is vinified in casks and stainless-steel vats, then aged for 30 months in barriques. It offers aromas of blackcurrant, black cherry and pepper, a silky texture and vibrant minerality. To be enjoyed with hare stew or truffles.
Domaine Jean Louis Chave
A family estate rooted on the slopes of Hermitage since the 15th century, where Syrah expresses itself with rare precision, shaped by a unique terroir and a vinification respectful of traditions.
- Terroir: The granitic and schistose soils of the Hermitage hills, bathed by the northern Rhône climate, bestow upon the wines a distinctive minerality and a taut elegance.
- Vinification: Near-total destemming, fermentation in wooden casks and stainless-steel vats, followed by extended aging in barriques to reveal the purity of the fruit and the complexity of the terroir.

- To the eye: A deep garnet red robe, of a silky density, where light dances with a mineral intensity.
- On the nose: First, aromas of ripe blackcurrant and black cherry, followed by notes of liquorice, white pepper and a saline touch.
- On the palate: A velvety texture, carried by a lively acidity and a chalky minerality, stretching into a long and precise finish where gentle spices and persistent freshness intertwine.
Serve at 16–18°C in a Burgundy-style red wine glass to release its full complexity.

A vintage marked by balanced ripeness, where the Syrah of Hermitage reveals a harmonious structure, combining power and finesse.
- Aging potential: This wine can be kept for another 10 to 15 years under optimal conditions (stable temperature between 12 and 14°C, controlled humidity), while already offering a fully accomplished tasting experience today.
