Tasting notes for Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage Blanc 1996
Appearance: Golden, with antique-gold highlights and a silky depth.
On the nose: White peach and candied apricot appear first, followed by beeswax and toasted hazelnut, before a subtle salinity recalls the Rhône winds sweeping the granite slopes.
On the palate: A rich yet taut texture, with lively acidity forming a mineral backbone, while dried-fruit and sweet-spice flavors carry through to a long, persistent, chalky finish.
Serve at 12–14°C in a Burgundy-style white wine glass to release its full complexity.
