Sourced from the mythical plots of Hermitage, the Jean Louis Chave 1994 is a red wine in which Syrah expresses itself with depth. A nose of black cherry, spices and minerality, a silky palate and vibrant freshness. A wine for cellaring (2030), ideal with game or a matured cheese such as Beaufort.
Domaine Jean-Louis Chave
Since 1481, this family estate has embodied the excellence of northern Rhône wines, rooted on the legendary slopes of Hermitage.
- Terroir: Granitic and schistose soils of the Hermitage hill, where each plot reveals a unique expression of Syrah, between power and elegance.
- Vinification: Meticulous plot-by-plot blending, aging in barrels to preserve the purity of the fruit and mineral tension.

In the glass – Deep garnet robe with tawny highlights, of a silky and dense texture.
On the nose – Aromas of candied black cherry and wild blackberry, followed by a hint of liquorice and black pepper, before opening up to a chalky minerality and a subtle graphite smokiness.
On the palate – A precise and taut attack, where lively acidity supports a velvety tannic structure, while a persistent salinity carries a long and harmonious finish, marked by notes of cocoa and stone fruit.
Serve at 16–18°C in a Burgundy-style glass to release its full complexity.
