Tasting notes for Château Haut-Brion 1971
To the eye: A garnet red robe with brick-toned reflections, of silky density, betraying nearly half a century of slow maturation.
On the nose: First aromas of candied morello cherry and wild blackberry, followed by an uplift of blond tobacco, patinated leather and a saline touch reminiscent of damp undergrowth after rain.
On the palate: A velvety texture, carried by a lively acidity and a chalky minerality, extends into a long and harmonious finish where soft spices and graphite nuances intertwine.
Serve at 16–18°C in a Bordeaux glass to release its full complexity.

A vintage of balance, where oceanic freshness preserved the delicacy of the tannins and aromatic finesse.
- Aging potential: At its peak today, this wine can still be kept for 5 to 10 years in a cellar at a stable temperature (12–14°C) with controlled humidity.
