Tasting notes for Château Haut-Brion 1970
To the eye – A garnet red robe with tawny reflections, of a dense and luminous texture, betraying a silky maturity and a masterfully controlled evolution.
On the nose – A complex bouquet where notes of candied blackcurrant and blackberry leaf mingle first, before opening up to deeper aromas of cedar, blond tobacco and aged leather, lifted by a saline and mineral touch.
On the palate – A velvety attack, carried by fine tannins and a lively acidity, revealing an elegant tension between sweet red fruits, soft spices and a persistent finish with accents of undergrowth and bitter chocolate.
Serve between 15 and 18°C, in a Bordeaux glass to release its full complexity.
