The Château Haut-Brion 1985, a jewel of Pessac-Léognan, flourishes on gravel and clay soils. This red wine, aged in barrels, offers notes of blackcurrant, truffle and tobacco, a silky texture and a lively minerality. Best enjoyed with game or red meat, it will continue to evolve until 2034.
A noble Bordeaux estate anchored in Pessac-Léognan, Haut-Brion has embodied viticultural excellence since the 16th century under the stewardship of the Dillon family.
- Terroir: Deep gravel and clay-gravel soils of Pessac-Léognan, chalky and well-drained, conferring a distinctive minerality and rare elegance to the wines.
- Vinification: Meticulous blending of Bordeaux grape varieties, extended ageing in barrels for a silky structure and preserved aromatic complexity.
Tasting notes for Château Haut-Brion Haut-Brion 1985
To the eye – A deep ruby robe with tawny reflections, of a velvety density and a brilliance subtly softened by time.
On the nose – Aromas of candied black cherry, ripe blackcurrant, fresh truffle and blond tobacco, lifted by a saline touch and a hint of mineral graphite.
On the palate – A silky and taut texture, where a lively acidity, melted tannins and a long finish intertwine, carried by notes of leather and liquorice.
Serve at 16-18°C in a Bordeaux glass to release its full complexity.

A pivotal vintage in which the ripeness of the grapes met a preserved freshness, offering a perfect balance between power and finesse.
- Ageing potential: To be enjoyed until 2034, provided it is stored in a cool cellar (12-14°C) away from vibrations.
