The Pétrus 1980, a grand fine wine from Pomerol, reveals the richness of its blue clay terroir. This pure Merlot, with notes of dark fruits, truffle, and leather, captivates with its velvety palate and silky tannins. Perfectly mature, it pairs wonderfully with duck breast or a selection of aged cheeses.
Nestled at the summit of Pomerol, this family estate has embodied Bordeaux excellence across generations, shaped by an exceptional terroir and an uncompromising winemaking tradition.
- Terroir : Unique blue clay at the highest point of the Pomerol appellation, lending the wines a rare mineral density and depth.
- Vinification : Meticulous aging in oak barrels, favoring the pure expression of Merlot and a silky structure, without artifice.
Tasting notes for Pétrus 1980
To the eye – Garnet robe with brick-tinted reflections, of a velvety density, betraying an accomplished maturity and a preserved elegance.
On the nose – Aromas of wild blackberry and prune mingle with notes of black truffle, aged leather, and faded violet, underlined by a saline touch and a hint of blonde tobacco.
On the palate – Unctuous texture and smooth tannins, carried by a lively acidity and a chalky minerality, for a long and harmonious finish, where nuances of licorice and soft spices unfold.
Serve at 16–18°C in a Bordeaux glass to fully release its bouquet.
