The Chablis Grand Cru Blanchot 2013 from Domaine François Raveneau embodies the minerality of Kimmeridgian soils. This 55-year-old Chardonnay, barrel-fermented, offers a lively palate, aromas of ginger and a saline finish. Ideal for cellaring, perfect with oysters or grilled fish.
A cornerstone of the great Chablis estates, this family domaine embodies the exacting standards of an exceptional terroir, where every gesture perpetuates a rare winemaking heritage.
- Terroir: Chalky Kimmeridgian soils of Chablis, where Grand Cru vineyards such as Blanchot capture a unique minerality, shaped by marine fossils and steep slopes.
- Vinification: Hand-harvested grapes, fermented in barrels and aged on lees to preserve the purity of the Chardonnay and reveal the tension of the terroir.
Tasting notes for Domaine François Raveneau Chablis Grand Cru Blanchot 2013
In the glass: A pale gold robe with green highlights, of crystalline clarity, where light dances across a silky, vibrant texture.
On the nose: First aromas of lime and hawthorn blossom, followed by a hint of fresh ginger and a saline edge, like a sea breeze over sun-warmed stones.
On the palate: A lively and precise attack, carried by a taut acidity that stretches into a chalky minerality, before a finish of saline, persistent length, where notes of fresh almond and flint intertwine.
Serve between 12 and 14°C in a Burgundy-style white wine glass to fully reveal its complexity.
Vintage 2013
A vintage defined by remarkable freshness, where the saline minerality of the terroir expresses itself with rare elegance, far removed from any excess of ripeness.
- Ageing potential: Store until 2030 or beyond, in a cool cellar (12–14°C) away from light, to allow time to reveal its full complexity.
