The history of Champagne House Krug, based in Reims, is rich in history and boldness. Indeed, Joseph Krug (born in 1800), a curious and gifted young man, wished to enter the world of Champagne at the beginning of the 19th century. It was then that he took his first steps at Maison Jacquesson, one of the most prestigious houses of the time. He observed, learned, and it was in 1843 that Maison Krug & Co officially appeared, and Joseph Krug then had a groundbreaking idea in the world of Champagne: he wished to produce the best Champagne every year, regardless of the vagaries of climate. Through work over time, Joseph Krug acquired a large quantity of reserve wines, and thus from its creation, Champagne House Krug became the first and only House to produce exclusively prestige cuvées, every year.

Joseph Krug expanded his range of champagnes by creating a second cuvée, his vintage Champagne: created "according to circumstances"; it then reflects the story of a year, its singular character, and is not systematic. You will have the chance to find extraordinary vintages on the market such as 1988, 1995, 1996, 1998, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2006. You will also be fortunate to find rarer and older bottles, adored by all Krug Lovers: the Champagne Krug collection cuvée created from the vintages: 1981, 1982, 1985, 1988, 1989 and 1990.
Several generations of the Krug family have succeeded one another and the Champagne House has become iconic worldwide. The Champagne House Krug has grown in splendor over time: acquisition of Clos du Mesnil in 1971 (it would take until 1979 for the grapes to reveal their finest expression and be entirely dedicated to a single-vineyard cuvée, the Champagne Krug Clos Du Mesnil). The appearance of Krug Champagne Rosé in 1983, then the acquisition of the sumptuous Pinot Noir parcel in Ambonnay in 1994, giving birth to the even more sumptuous Champagne Grand Cru Krug Clos d'Ambonnay 1995, released for the first time in 2007.
After six generations, the Champagne House Krug remains one of the human-scale houses in Champagne, limiting the number of bottles to offer remarkable quality on each of its Krug cuvées, whose beauty lies in patience, understanding, and above all time. The Krug House's reserve wine library is impressive: some 150 wines, from 10 to 12 years old, or even 15 years. All Krug enthusiasts will tell you that this Champagne nectar is a secret that everyone wants to know and which lies in the individuality of each parcel.
