In Bordeaux, the 1962 vintage produced beautiful, elegant and refined red wines. The harvest was late, but of quality and above all abundant, which contributed to making the bottles accessible. Bargain hunters will find plenty to enjoy here. The 1962 Classified Growths of the Médoc are very successful, as are the Graves (both whites and reds) and the Sauternes. An excellent 1962 in Burgundy where both red and white wines are very good (though with low production). The Grand Crus such as Chambertin, Musigny or Richebourg, Meursault and Corton-Charlemagne 1962 are fine achievements. In Champagne, the 1962 vintage yields pleasant wines despite a slight austerity. Very good red wines in the Rhône Valley in this 1962 vintage, where the finest Côte Rôtie or Hermitage will be worth seeking out. In Alsace, 1962 was a good year. Special mention should also be made of the 1962 sweet wines. Finally, one can highlight good red wines from Bourgueil and Chinon 1962 for the wines of the Loire Valley.
