Champagne Henri Giraud is established on the exceptional terroir of Aÿ, one of the 17 Grand Cru villages Grand Cru, among the 323 villages holding the Champagne appellation. The Maison de Champagne Giraud has been passed down from generation to generation since the 17th century and today ranks among the elite of Champagne houses. Its Aÿ terroir has earned its reputation thanks to its magnificent Pinot Noir and its superb Champagne hillsides, allowing grapes to reach full ripeness and finesse. Aÿ is characterised by poor soil, fully south-facing and swept by cool air currents from the Marne.

The owner, Claude Giraud, twelfth generation of the Champagne family Giraud-Hémart, is a fervent enthusiast of barrel aging, worthy of the great white wines of Burgundy. A visionary, he propelled the Maison to become an icon of Champagne, uniting the chalk of Aÿ grand cru with the gaize of the Argonne forest as early as the 1990s. With the help of his son-in-law, cellar master since the mid-2000s, Claude Giraud sets his production apart by aging a portion of his still wines on full lees in tanks or in small oak barrels, crafted from wood sourced from the Argonne forest, a great Champagne forest. This aging method had been abandoned in Champagne since 1950 and lends the wine elegance, richness, and woody notes — the signature of Maison Giraud. The Giraud style is discovered through the Esprit Nature cuvée, and connoisseurs quickly turn to the Hommage, Code Noir, Dame Jane, or Fût de Chêne MV cuvées, until they discover the Argonne champagne, an intense, vibrant, and unforgettable champagne. Following the success of the 2004 vintage, the Argonne 2008 cuvée recently made its appearance on the market. This unique gastronomic champagne is produced in only 4,000 bottles. More accessible, the world is clamoring for the celebrated Fût de Chêne MultiVintage cuvée, whose success was extraordinary in 2013 and which expresses the style of this Champagne Maison through its unique bottle and perfect balance.

From 2008 onwards, half of the harvest is vinified in the new winery in Aÿ, today housing more than four hundred new barrels, kept for five years and then sold to Japan for the production of sake. Maison Giraud positions itself as a specialist of its terroir, mindful of its ecological impact and committed to sustainable development. Claude Giraud brought to market in 2017 the first bottles of champagnes guaranteed "zero pesticide residue".
