Comtes Lafon Volnay 1er Cru Santenots du Milieu 2018
The Volnay 1er Cru Santenots du Milieu 2018 from Domaine des Comtes Lafon, made from Pinot Noir, captivates with its aromas of red fruits and spices. Aged in barrels (1/3 new oak), it combines silkiness with mineral freshness. Ideal with duck breast or cheeses, it will improve until 2030.
Domaine des Comtes Lafon
A family estate rooted in the Côte de Beaune, where the demands of the terroir engage in dialogue with a centuries-old winemaking heritage.
- Terroir: Clay-limestone soils of Santenots-du-Milieu, in Volnay – a unique parcel shaped by winds and marls, revealing wines of chalky minerality and rare elegance.
- Vinification: Biodynamic approach, hand harvesting and ageing in barrels (including one third new oak), for cuvées where precision rivals the silkiness of the tannins.

Tasting notes for the wine Domaine des Comtes Lafon Volnay 1er Cru Santenots du Milieu 2018
To the eye: Deep purple robe with garnet highlights, of a silky density that heralds a generous and velvety substance.
On the nose: Freshness of morello cherry and crunchy raspberry, evolving towards notes of violet and liquorice, before a saline touch and a hint of undergrowth bring a mineral depth.
On the palate: A lively and precise attack, carried by a taut acidity that underlines the purity of the fruit; the tannins, fine and tight, stretch into a long and chalky finish where sweet spices and a persistent salinity intertwine.
Serve at 14–16°C in a Burgundy glass to release its full expression.
Vintage 2018
A sunny and balanced vintage, where the summer heat ripened the grapes without altering the characteristic freshness of Santenots-du-Milieu.
- Ageing potential: 10 to 15 years, to be kept in a cool cellar (12–14°C) away from light.
