The Chenin Blanc Les Cocus 2024, grown on the stony hillsides of Faye d'Anjou, combines chalky minerality and vibrant acidity. Aged in barrels, it unveils aromas of pear and lemon zest, with a taut palate. To enjoy with oysters or cheeses, now or within 3 to 5 years.
Nestled in the heart of the Val de Loire, this family estate embodies the alliance of a schist terroir and biodynamic viticulture, guided by a respect for the living.
- Terroir : Clay and blue schist soils in Faye d'Anjou, where Chenin Blanc draws its minerality and its tension.
- Vinification : Gentle methods – slow pressing, natural fermentation in barrels, aging on fine lees – for wines of crystalline purity.
Tasting notes for the wine Domaine Thomas Batardière Les Cocus 2024
In the glass – A pale gold robe with green highlights, of silky clarity, like a shard of quartz in the light.
On the nose – Aromas of crisp Williams pear, fresh seaweed and brewed green tea, lifted by a saline touch and a hint of candied lemon zest, before opening onto notes of flint and wet schist.
On the palate – A lively and precise attack, carried by a taut acidity that draws a chalky mineral thread; the texture, at once unctuous and slender, extends into a saline and persistent finish, where white fruits and memories of rock intertwine.
Serve between 10 and 12°C, in a Burgundy-style white wine glass to reveal its complexity.
Vintage 2024
A vintage marked by vibrant freshness, where the balance between ripeness and mineral tension is expressed with rare elegance.
- Aging potential : To enjoy now for its vivacity, or to cellar for 5 to 8 years in a cool cellar (12–14°C) and away from light.
