History of Domaine Duroché

The history of Domaine Duroché goes back several generations, with the first family bottling dating from 1933. However, it was Pierre Duroché's arrival at the helm in 2005 that marked a major turning point for the estate. His father, Gilles Duroché, formerly sold a large part of the production to négociants. Pierre, taking over, decided to bottle the entire production and propel the estate toward excellence. With a modern vision and deep respect for traditions, he undertook rigorous work in the vineyard and cellar to sublimate the expression of the terroirs.

Pierre has progressively reduced human intervention, favoring natural viticultural practices and meticulous aging. Through a minimalist approach in the cellar, fermentation with indigenous yeasts, and judicious use of new oak, he has refined the estate's wine style. Today, his cuvées stand out for their precision, energy, and exceptional aromatic purity, making Domaine Duroché one of the essential references of Gevrey-Chambertin.

Domaine Duroché Terroirs and Vineyards

Spanning 8.5 hectares, the Domaine Duroché vineyard is primarily planted in Gevrey-Chambertin, one of the most prestigious terroirs of Burgundy. The estate owns vines in several appellations, including Grand Crus (Chambertin Clos de Bèze, Charmes-Chambertin, Latricières-Chambertin, Griotte-Chambertin) and Premier Crus (Lavaut Saint-Jacques, Estournelles Saint-Jacques, Les Cazetiers, Les Champeaux).

The vineyard work is highly sustainable, without the use of insecticides or herbicides. The use of sulfur and copper is limited, and natural methods such as grass cover are favored. The estate also applies massal selection practices, allowing the preservation of the genetic diversity of old vines and obtaining concentrated and expressive grapes.

Domaine Duroché Winemaking

In the Domaine Duroché cellar, winemaking is designed to best express the uniqueness of each terroir. The grapes are harvested by hand, then sorted with precision to keep only the highest quality berries. Fermentation is carried out with indigenous yeasts, and extractions are moderate to favor finesse.

The wines are aged in oak barrels, with a proportion of 10 to 20% new wood, to preserve the aromatic purity of the cuvées. The wines undergo neither fining nor filtration before bottling, thus guaranteeing maximum complexity and authenticity.

Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Lavaut Saint-Jacques: A powerful wine requiring extended aging to reveal its potential.

Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Estournelles Saint-Jacques: Combining minerality and spices, this wine perfectly reflects its terroir.

Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Cazetiers: Vinified since 2015 with whole clusters, offering floral and spicy aromatics.

Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Champeaux: Elegant and feminine, this wine is accessible from its youth.

Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Malconsorts: Produced in very small quantities, this structured and complex wine is of great rarity.

Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Sentiers: A powerful and concentrated wine, marked by notes of ripe red fruits.
