The Château Angélus 1971, Saint-Émilion Grand Cru, is born from a clay-limestone terroir set in a natural amphitheatre. A blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, this barrel-aged vintage reveals aromas of dark fruits, truffle and spices, with a silky palate. Perfect with a beef tenderloin or a matured brie.
A family estate rooted in the legendary terroir of Saint-Émilion, where the winemaking heritage has been passed down since 1782.
- Terroir: Clay-limestone soils set in a natural amphitheatre, the cradle of a Saint-Émilion Grand Cru appellation with mineral and profound nuances.
- Vinification: Aged in oak barrels, a blend of tradition and precision for wines of timeless elegance.
To the eye – Garnet robe with tawny highlights, of a silky density and a brilliance that reveals its age with nobility.
On the nose – Aromas of candied black cherry, black truffle, soft spices such as cinnamon, followed by a touch of burnished leather and a subtle chalky salinity.
On the palate – Velvety texture, tannins melted into a smooth, unctuous body, lively acidity carrying a discreet minerality, long and persistent finish with notes of liquorice and blonde tobacco.
Serve at 16°C in a Bordeaux glass to release its full complexity.
A vintage marked by a temperate climate, where the slow ripening of the grapes forged a rare balance between power and finesse.
- Ageing potential: Ready to enjoy now, or to be kept for another 5 to 10 years in a cellar with controlled temperature and hygrometry.
