Nestled in the heart of Pauillac, this legendary estate has embodied Bordeaux excellence for centuries, shaped by the Rothschild legacy since 1868.
- Terroir : 112 hectares of fine, deep gravel over limestone bedrock, shaping wines of mineral elegance and rare precision.
- Winemaking : Aged for 20 months in new French oak barrels, for a silky tannic structure and preserved aromatic complexity.
Tasting notes for Château Lafite Rothschild 1988
In the glass – Garnet red with brick-red highlights and a velvety depth, revealing full maturity while retaining a vibrant youthfulness.
On the nose – Cedar and graphite notes emerge first, followed by touches of preserved blackcurrant and wild blackberry, before a saline hint underscores the terroir’s chalky minerality.
On the palate – A silky texture, lively acidity and elegant tension, with smooth tannins interwoven with notes of polished leather and licorice, leading to a long, persistent, saline finish.
Serve at 16–18°C in a Bordeaux glass to bring out its full complexity.
