The Château Lafite Rothschild 1988, from the gravelly soils of Pauillac, is a Premier Grand Cru Classé. Its aromas of cedar and dark fruits, aged in new barrels, precede a palate of silky tannins and a mineral finish. To be enjoyed until 2040, perfect with duck or a matured cheese.

Nestled in the heart of Pauillac, this legendary estate has embodied Bordeaux excellence for centuries, carried by the Rothschild legacy since 1868.
- Terroir : 112 hectares of fine, deep gravel soils resting on a limestone subsoil, shaping wines of mineral elegance and rare precision.
- Vinification : Aged for 20 months in new French oak barrels, for a silky tannic structure and preserved aromatic complexity.
Tasting notes for Château Lafite Rothschild 1988
To the eye – A garnet red robe with tawny highlights, of a velvety density, betraying a fully accomplished maturity while retaining a vibrant youthfulness.
On the nose – First notes of cedar and graphite, followed by touches of candied blackcurrant and wild blackberry, before a saline hint underlines the chalky minerality of the terroir.
On the palate – A silky texture, carried by a lively acidity and elegant tension, where the melted tannins intertwine with aromas of polished leather and liquorice, leading to a finish of saline, lingering length.
Serve between 16 and 18°C in a Bordeaux glass to release its full complexity.

A vintage of character, marked by a hot and dry summer following a fierce battle against powdery mildew, yielding grapes of optimal ripeness and a structure conducive to long ageing.
- Ageing potential : To be enjoyed until 2040, provided it is stored in a cool cellar (12–14°C) and kept away from light.
