Tasting notes for Château Lafite Rothschild 1976
To the eye – A deep, dark red robe with brick-red reflections, dense and velvety, betraying nearly half a century of maturation in the bottle.
On the nose – First, aromas of candied blackcurrant and wild blackberry, then notes of toasted cedar, blonde tobacco and a saline touch of graphite, like a breath of forest after the rain.
On the palate – A silky and melting texture, carried by a lively acidity and a chalky minerality, stretching into a long, harmonious finish where aged leather, gentle spices and dark fruits intermingle.
Serve at 16°C in a Bordeaux glass to release its full complexity.
