For about forty years, Denis Bachelet has presided over the destiny of the estate, whose international reputation is very well established. In fact, due to its low production always highly sought after for export, Domaine Denis Bachelet is one of the star estates of Gevrey Chambertin, whose international notoriety is immense; like the Dugat Py estate, the majority of the vineyard of Domaine Denis Bachelet consists of very old vines, sometimes centenary, which allow the wines to deliver that extra soul that can sometimes be lacking in certain estates.

The renowned international critic Clive Coates described Denis Bachelet's wines as great concentrated wines, harmonious, sober and pure, of rare intensity, great elegance and subtlety. At the domaine, Denis Bachelet is assisted by his son Nicolas Bachelet, and the vinification methods, which are accompanied by less frequent pigeage as they prioritize finesse above all, and underlined by always subtle aging, have allowed the wines to be approachable earlier than in the past. The range of cuvées consists of a red Burgundy, Côtes de Nuits villages, Gevrey Chambertin old vines, Gevrey Chambertin "Les Evocelles", Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru Les Corbeaux and a sumptuous Charmes chambertin on the Burgundy Grand Cru side. One can say that the wines of Domaine Denis Bachelet can be enjoyed young, on the fruit, however it is advisable to wait 7 to 10 years to better enjoy their real aging potential (especially given the rarity of the bottles). As it is difficult to obtain wines from Domaine Denis Bachelet in France, since most of the production goes internationally, don't miss out on the latest vintages including the magnificent 2018! Made without artifice, the Gevrey Chambertin old vines, with its majestic nose of raspberry and black fruits, already gives a glimpse of the fullness and complexity and silkiness of the domaine's wines (aging 6/8 years). The Gevrey Chambertin Premier Cru les Corbeaux with its creamy raspberry nose and delicate touch of sandalwood, is very elegant, subtle and charming. As for the Charmes Chambertin, its power, its textbook balance, as well as the intensity of its finish make it a very great aging wine, to be sought after by all Burgundy lovers. Note that the best red vintages for these appellations are 2015, 2012, 2010, 2009, 2005. Only the rarity of production on the French market is to be regretted, so when bottles from Domaine Denis Bachelet are available, do not hesitate to seize the opportunity.
