The Château Coutet 1990, Premier Cru Classé of Sauternes-Barsac, blends Sémillon, Sauvignon, and Muscadelle. Its notes of honey, candied fruits, and citrus peel, aged 18 months in barrels, offer a silky and fresh palate. To enjoy with foie gras or desserts, or to cellar.
A family estate steeped in the history of Barsac, where time sculpts dessert wines of rare elegance.
- Terroir: Clay-limestone and gravel soils of the Sauternes-Barsac appellation, bathed in the morning mists of the Garonne, which encourage noble rot and concentrate the aromas.
- Vinification: A meticulous blend of Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc, and Muscadelle, aged 18 months in French oak barrels for a harmony between richness and freshness.
Tasting notes for Château Coutet Coutet 1990
To the eye: A golden robe with amber highlights, of silky and luminous density, like liquid honey catching the light.
On the nose: Aromas of acacia honey, candied apricot, bitter orange peel, and candied lemon zest, lifted by a saline touch and a hint of beeswax.
On the palate: An unctuous and velvety texture, carried by a lively acidity that balances the sweetness, while a chalky minerality extends the finish into a long aromatic persistence.
Serve at 8–10°C in a Bordeaux-style white wine glass to release its full complexity.
Vintage 1990
A sunny and generous vintage, in which the concentration of the grapes gave birth to a wine of rare intensity, while retaining a remarkable freshness.
- Aging potential: Enjoy now or cellar until 2040 in a temperature-stable (12–14°C) and humidity-controlled cellar.
