The Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Fontenys 2023 from Domaine Joseph Roty, crafted from Pinot Noir on limestone soils, combines black cherry and woody notes. Lively and mineral, its palate reveals an elegant texture. Perfect from 2028 with lacquered duck or a characterful cheese.
Nestled at the heart of Gevrey-Chambertin, this family estate perpetuates a winemaking heritage across several generations. Here, time seems suspended between tradition and exacting standards.
- Terroir : The vines, rooted on the hillsides of the Côte de Nuits, draw their character from limestone and marl soils, typical of the Burgundy Premiers Crus.
- Vinification : A respectful approach, where ageing in oak barrels elevates the purity of the Pinot Noir without ever altering its finesse.
On the eye: a deep ruby robe of silky density, where light dances with understated elegance.
On the nose: aromas of fresh black cherry and wild violet, followed by notes of liquorice and undergrowth, lifted by a mineral touch reminiscent of damp chalk.
On the palate: a velvety texture, carried by a lively acidity and a mineral tension, giving way to a long, saline finish where gentle spices and ripe fruits mingle.
Serve at 16–18 °C in a Burgundy glass to reveal its full complexity.
A vintage marked by balanced maturity, where freshness and concentration answer each other in harmony.
- Ageing potential : To be kept until 2038 under optimal conditions (cool cellar, away from light and vibrations).
