The Mouton Rothschild 1988, a fine wine from Pauillac, originates from Médoc gravels. This vintage (75% Cabernet Sauvignon) offers aromas of cedar and dark fruits after 18 months in oak. Structured and mineral, it pairs with red meats and game until 2032.
Château Mouton Rothschild
Nestled in the heart of Pauillac, this legendary estate has embodied the excellence of Bordeaux wines for generations.
- Terroir : Deep gravels of the Médoc, where gravelly soils and an oceanic climate shape wines of unparalleled structure and minerality.
- Vinification : A meticulous blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc, aged 18 months in French oak barrels for classic elegance and long aging potential.
Tasting notes for Château Mouton Rothschild Mouton Rothschild 1988
- Appearance : A garnet-red robe with brick-tiled reflections, dense and slightly veiled by time, revealing a silky texture and a chalky depth.
- Nose : A bouquet where notes of fresh cedar and blonde tobacco intermingle first, followed by deeper aromas of candied blackcurrant, graphite, and a saline hint reminiscent of damp undergrowth.
- Palate : A lively and precise attack, carried by taut acidity and stony minerality, while the tannins, still present but well-integrated, envelop a long and slightly spiced finish.
Serve at 16–18°C in a Bordeaux glass to release its full complexity.
Vintage 1988
A vintage marked by slow maturation and classic balance, where the coolness of the climate preserved a remarkable tension.
- Aging potential : At its peak between 2000 and 2032, store in a cool cellar (12–14°C) away from light to preserve its subtlety.
