The Champagne Jacques Selosse Version Originale (Recent release), Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Extra Brut, is born from the chalky soils of Avize, Cramant and Oger. Aged 42 months on lees, this non-vintage wine reveals aromas of biscuit and dried fruits. Its mineral and taut palate pairs perfectly with seafood and pan-fried turbot.
Nestled in the heart of the Côte des Blancs, this family estate embodies the demands and boldness of a visionary winemaker. From Avize, Anselme Selosse reinvents Champagne by drawing on the purity of its terroirs.
- Terroir: Chalky soils of Avize, Cramant and Oger – three Grand Cru villages where Chardonnay flourishes into a vibrant minerality and saline tension.
- Vinification: Extended ageing on lees, solera blending and minimal dosage for Champagnes of rare complexity, balancing controlled oxidation and crystalline freshness.
Tasting notes for Domaine Jacques Selosse Version Originale
In the glass: Pale golden robe with green highlights, a silky texture and a fine, persistent effervescence, like a veil of chalk in suspension.
On the nose: Aromas of toasted bread dough, dried apricots bathed in honey, followed by deeper notes of crème brûlée and golden caramel, all lifted by a saline touch and a chalky minerality evoking the subsoils of Avize.
On the palate: A lively and precise attack, driven by a taut acidity that stretches into a smooth, almost fleshy texture, before giving way to a long, mineral and slightly oxidative finish where roasted almonds and flint intertwine.
Serve between 10 and 12 °C in a tall flute or a white wine glass to preserve its aromatic complexity.
Non-vintage
A blend of three consecutive vintages, the Version Originale transcends climatic variations to offer a faithful expression of the Selosse style: at once generous and taut, ready to be enjoyed now or to be cellared patiently.
- Ageing potential: 10 to 15 years under optimal conditions (stable temperature, darkness and controlled humidity).
