From Avize, the Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Version Originale from Domaine Jacques Selosse is a non-vintage Extra Brut Champagne, aged in solera. It marries crème brûlée, dried fruits and chalky minerality, with a saline and persistent finish. To be enjoyed until 2040, particularly with oysters.
A family estate rooted in the chalky hillsides of Avize, where boldness meets tradition to craft Champagnes of rare depth.
- Terroir: Chalky soils of the Côte des Blancs, Grand Cru d'Avize – a vibrant minerality and a saline tension that define the identity of the wines.
- Winemaking: Solera method, oxidative ageing and reserve wines – a quest for complexity where time sculpts each cuvée.
Tasting notes for the wine Domaine Jacques Selosse Version Originale
To the eye: Golden robe with green reflections, of a silky texture and a fine, persistent effervescence.
On the nose: Aromas of crème brûlée and golden caramel, followed by dried fruits (apricots, almonds), toasted bread crust and a saline, chalky touch, evoking the subsoils of Avize.
On the palate: A lively and precise attack, carried by a taut acidity and a chalky minerality, before a long, saline and multi-layered finish, where notes of biscuit and candied fruits intertwine.
Serve between 8 and 10 °C in a tall flute or a white wine glass to reveal its full complexity.
Vintage non-vintage
A cuvée assembled with reserve wines, where each bottle bears the imprint of a timeless style, freed from the vagaries of annual climatic conditions.
- Ageing potential: To be enjoyed from now or stored until 2040, in a cool cellar (12–14 °C) and away from light.
