The Jacques Selosse Sous Le Mont, Blanc de Noirs Grand Cru from Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, is born from chalky soils. Fermented in barrels, it reveals notes of spiced red fruits, herbs and hazelnut. Its silky and mineral palate makes it a Champagne of great precision. To enjoy now or to keep for 5 to 10 years, with game or cheeses.
Nestled in the heart of Avize since 1959, this family estate embodies the rare alliance between Champagne tradition and viticultural boldness. A tireless quest for purity, driven by Anselme Selosse, a guiding figure of biodynamics.
- Terroir: Chalky soils of Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, Grand Cru de la Côte des Blancs, where Pinot Noir reveals a vibrant minerality and a saline tension.
- Winemaking: Fermentation in barrels with indigenous yeasts, extended ageing on lees – an alchemy that exalts the raw expression of the lieu-dit.
Tasting notes for the wine Jacques Selosse Sous Le Mont
To the eye – Golden robe with old gold reflections, of a silky density, like a veil of light captured by the glass.
On the nose – Freshness of redcurrant and black cherry, followed by notes of gingerbread, roasted hazelnut and a saline touch, evoking the iodized air of the hillsides of Mareuil.
On the palate – Smooth and taut texture, carried by a lively acidity and a chalky minerality; the finish, long and saline, leaves an imprint of candied red fruits and liquorice.
Serve between 10 and 12 °C in a tall flute or a white wine glass to preserve its complexity.
Vintage Non-Vintage
A blended cuvée where each bottle tells the story of the subtle balance between several years of harvests, shaped by the expert hand of Anselme Selosse.
- Ageing potential: 10 to 15 years, to be stored away from light, in a cool (12–14 °C) and humid cellar.
