Joseph Roty Côte de Nuits-Villages La Croix Violette 2022, born on the chalky slopes of Brochon. This 70-year-old Pinot Noir marries plum, raspberry and violet with a wild touch. On the palate, fleshy and mineral, it offers a sappy finish. To be enjoyed from 2024 onwards with game or mushrooms.
A family estate rooted at the heart of the Côte de Nuits, Domaine Joseph Roty perpetuates a viticultural heritage where precision and respect for the terroir guide every gesture.
- Terroir: clay-limestone and marly soils in Brochon, where altitude and exposure sculpt Pinot Noir of rare intensity.
- Vinification: long ageing in oak barrels, for wines that are both fleshy and taut, where the substance engages in dialogue with freshness.
To the eye: a deep ruby robe with garnet reflections, dense and slightly veiled by a silky texture.
On the nose: aromas of ripe plum and black raspberry intertwine with notes of fresh violet, before a wild touch — leather and undergrowth — anchors the bouquet in a chalky minerality.
On the palate: a fleshy and generous attack unfolds into a velvety texture, carried by a lively acidity and a discreet saltiness; the long and dusty finish leaves an impression of sap and elegant tension.
Serve at 16-18°C in a Burgundy glass to release its full complexity.
A vintage marked by early ripeness and remarkable concentration, where warmth and freshness balanced each other to produce wines that are both powerful and precise.
- Ageing potential: to be kept for up to 10 years in a cool cellar (12-14°C) and away from light.
