Tasting notes for Château Palmer 1988
- To the eye : Garnet robe with tawny reflections, of a silky density and crystalline clarity, betraying an accomplished ripeness.
- On the nose : First, the freshness of dried rose and cedar, then the depth of blonde tobacco, damp undergrowth and stewed blackcurrant, lifted by a saline touch of graphite and soft spices.
- On the palate : Velvety attack, melted yet still present tannins, drawing an elegant structure where candied dark fruits, chalky minerality and tertiary notes of leather and mocha intertwine – a long, taut finish of rare harmony.
Serve at 16-18°C in a Bordeaux glass to release its full complexity.
