The Champagne R. Pouillon 1er Cru Les Blanchiens Brut Nature 2016, from Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, blends Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Vinified in barrels and aged five years on the lees, it offers notes of white fruit and brioche. On the palate, mineral and taut, it pairs with seafood and cheeses through 2030.
A family estate rooted in Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, where three generations patiently cultivate the art of terroir champagne.
- Terroir: Clay-limestone soils on the hillsides of Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, classified Premier Cru, shaping wines of chalky minerality and great precision.
- Vinification: Aged in oak barrels, with indigenous yeasts and long lees maturation to reveal the purity of the fruit and the complexity of the terroir.
Tasting notes for champagne R. Pouillon 1er Cru Les Blanchiens Brut Nature 2016
To the eye – A pale gold robe with green reflections, of silky clarity, traversed by a cord of fine and persistent bubbles.
On the nose – First aromas of Williams pear and hawthorn blossom, followed by notes of candied citrus and lime zest, before giving way to a saline touch and nuances of toasted bread and roasted hazelnut.
On the palate – A lively and taut attack, driven by crystalline acidity and chalky minerality, stretching into a long and saline finish, where the tension of the Chardonnay embraces the structured roundness of the Pinot Noir.
Serve between 8 and 10 °C in a tall flute or a wide-mouthed champagne glass to release its aromas.
